Mexico – the gateway to America

In 2024, Phoenix Contact announced the construction of a new production site in Querétaro in central Mexico at the Hannover Messe. The first construction phase has now been officially opened. Power supplies will be manufactured on more than 12,500 m2 in the future. There will also be electrical engineering and electronic components for control cabinet building.

With this structural and logistical measure, Phoenix Contact is strengthening the resilience of its supply chains and the “think global, act local” principle. When choosing the new location, proximity to the US market was just as important as access to resources and expertise for electronics production. “Geographically speaking, Mexico offers the advantage of logistical connections from both the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific. The Querétaro region is located in central Mexico between the central ports of Veracruz and Manzanillo and is logistically well connected to the USA,” explained CEO Dirk Görlitzer as early as 2024.

The global market leader from Blomberg has been active in Mexico since 2001, initially starting its purely sales activities with 54 employees in Mexico City. This underlines the importance of the location at the interface between North and South America. An extension is already planned in Queretaro, which will increase the total area to more than 20,000 m² in the future. The long-term goal is to expand the site to around 700 employees by 2032 and establish it as a fixed, strategic component of the global production network.
