Just in time for the 25th anniversary of our subsidiary in Spain, a new man is at its top: Since January 16, Javier Figueras has been the new General Manager. In this role, he succeeds Gerardo Covarrubias, who is retiring at the beginning of February after 33 years with Phoenix Contact, ten of them as General Manager.
In his new position as General Manager of the subsidiary, Javier Figueras will drive the transformation towards the “All Electric Society” within Phoenix Contact Spain in the areas of Industrial Automation Solutions, Industrial Components and Electronics, Device Connectors and E-Mobility.
Figueras is a trained industrial engineer. At the beginning, he worked mainly in industrial automation of process plants, then he focused his career on account management in this sector.
After ten years at Siemens, he was General Manager of Sofrel Spain for two and a half years, which included managing the Portuguese and Latin American markets. He continued his career at ABB, a technology leader in electrification and automation, where he held various positions for almost five years, including General Manager of the local Measurement and Analytics Business Unit, General Manager of the Process Automation Measurement and Analytics Division of the Southern Europe cluster, and finally European Region Manager of the Instrumentation Line.
“In 2023, we will celebrate our 25th anniversary of Phoenix Contact Spain. What better goal than to contribute to another successful 25 years?” said the 42-year-old of his new role. Specifically, he said he is looking forward to leading the company and contributing to profitable and sustainable growth in the subsidiary and worldwide, including through the launch of the All Electric Society in Spain. “To achieve these goals, you have to embrace the values and inspiration that have brought Phoenix Contact to where we are today,” says Javier Figueras. “We can and should make the most of the talent and experience of our team in Spain.”
Javier Figueras is married and has a three-year-old daughter. When time permits, he enjoys playing basketball – even professionally in the past. “I’m also a passionate motorsports fan and have always enjoyed traveling and learning about new cultures.”(pmg)
